Noun and Pronoun



NOUN & PRONOUN

NOUN
Noun is defined as words that refer to a person, place, thing or idea.

Types of noun:
1. Concrete and abstract nouns
    Concrete nouns are things that we can see, hear, smell, taste or touch.
    For example: book, computer, newspaper
    Abstract nouns are nouns are not concrete.
    For example: love, mind, hate

2. Singular and plural nouns
    Singular nouns are used when it refers to only one thing
    For example: box
    Plural nouns are used when it repreesents more than one thing
    For example: boxes

3. Animate and inanimate nouns
    Animate nouns are refers to things that are alive
    For example: cow, boy
    Inanimate nouns are refers to things that are not alive
    For example: chair, table

4. Count and noncount nouns
    Count nouns are nouns that can be counted
    For example: apple, handphone, bottle
    Uncount nouns are nouns that can not be counted
    For example: water, wind, sugar

5. Common and proper nouns
    Common nouns are nouns that are actual names
    For example: girl, park
    Proper nouns are nouns that are not names.
    Most  proper nouns don't use the.
    For example: Jennifer (name of girl), Disneyland (park)


PRONOUN
Pronoun is a word that replaces a noun in a sentence.
A different pronoun is required depending on two elements: the noun being replaced and the function that noun has in the sentence.


Types of Pronoun
1. Personal pronoun
    Personal pronoun is pronoun that associated with a certain person, thing, or group.
    The personal pronoun are: I, you, she, he, we, they, it
    For example: She eats the fried chicken (Subject Pronoun)
                        I meet you (Object Pronoun)
   
2. Possessive pronoun
    Possessive pronoun is pronoun that indicate possession or ownership.
    The possessive pronoun are: my, your, her, his, their, our, its
    For example: It is my book
                         We are going to your house

3. Absolute possessive pronoun
    Absolute possessive pronoun is pronoun that indicate possession or ownership, that replace a whole noun or noun phrase.
    The absolute possessive pronoun are: mine, yours, hers, his, theirs, ours, its

    For example: I guess this book is mine
                         You take this apple from theirs
                        
4. Demonstrative pronoun
    Demonstrative pronoun is a pronoun that is used to point to something specific within a sentence.
    The demonstrative pronoun are: this, that, these, those
    For example: Those book are theirs
                         That girl is very beautiful

5. Relative pronoun
    Relative pronoun is pronoun that is being used the same like interogative pronoun, 
    but not to ask a question.
    For example: I ride the motorcycle which I bought yesterday
                         She likes the boy whom help her at the cinema

6. Interogative pronoun
    Interogative pronoun usually known as question word. 
    The interogative pronoun are: how, what, when, where, which, who, whom, whose, why
    For example: Which did you buy?
                         Who went first?

7. Indefinite pronoun
    Indefinite pronouns are those pronouns that refer to an unspecified person, place,thing, or idea
    The indefinitife pronoun are: all, anyone, both, each, anything, everybody, many, no one,etc.
    For  example: All of students are getting happy
                         Many people are looking at the expo

8. Reciprocal pronoun
    Reciprocal pronouns are pronouns that are used to refer to a mutual set of people.

    The reciprocal pronouns are:  each other, each other’s, one another, one another’s
    For example: You and me love each other 

9. Reflexive pronoun 
    Reflexive pronouns are pronouns that are used to show that the subject of the sentence is receiving the action of the verb
    The reflexive pronoun are: myself, himself, ourselves
    For example: I see myself on the mirror

10. Intensive pronoun
      Intensive pronoun is used only to place emphasis on subject.
